Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka, DanMachi for short and god do we need to shorten that one, is has an interesting concept for an anime. It is a romantic adventure in the most straightforward yet unique way. The concept sounds so simple and traditional, an adventurer going into dungeons to make a living and saving damsel in distress. We follow a little newby who is just discovering the joy of adventuring and he meets multiple girls who will most likely all fall in love with him and this will all turn into a slightly ecchi harem scenario. The story telling and characters are straightforward, the universe looks like something straight out of a traditional RPG, we have a character fighting wolves and minotaur while he gain levels and increase his strength and agility. I find that this would been way more fun to play than to watch.
From a quality perspective, visually speaking there was nothing out of the ordinary, the soundtrack was quite present and pretty good though. This was only the first episode but I feel the music has a strong presence and did a very good job and setting the mood during this first episode.
Now, from my perspective this looks like a pretty decent show, had this aired last season I would have definitively watched it. Unfortunately the Spring season usually has a really strong line-up, so DanMachi might be eclipse by everything else. The show is a bit too ordinary in its story and in its characters to really give an experience that distinguishes itself from the rest. I would probably find every episode fun to watch and enjoy the show as a whole, but I don’t think there is enough content or excitement for me in this kind of ecchi adventure show to warrant review it in the future.
DanMachi is not a bad show, a little generic, but definitively something enjoyable to watch. I’d recommend it to people who enjoy the light adventure stories and harems.
