I was actually surprised at how much slower this episode was compared to everything we saw so far. I can’t really say I was disappointed since the show couldn’t keep up with the current pace and had to give us a bit more character perspective, but at the same time I wish a bit more information had been revealed. I guess slower episode showcasing character development can’t be bad, but I’m really not that interested in the cute school life of Emiya, I’d rather we focus more on the drama and the killing instead. All I got from Emiya this episode is how he seem to like putting people he cares about in danger by having them stay in his unprotected house.
The episode was not completely devoid of new information though, one of the major new revelation was the limitation of Berserker’s Noble Phantasm and the confirmation that Caster was around taking people’s soul as mana. Speaking of Berserker though, Illyasveil is really a cocky brat for claiming Berserker’s Noble Phantasm to be without flaw and then revealing a few second later that it can only be activated once every 3 days. I don’t know about you, but being able to resuscitate only once every 3 days does seem like an inconvenient if, let’s say, you were to die twice within 3 days. I understand she is confident and she did have the upper hand there, but Illyasveil definitively shouldn’t underestimate her chances in this Holy Grail War, since she is such a bitch I think she might not have the greatest chances of survival in the long run.
In completely different news, I understand Fate/Stay Night was done ages ago, but it had been a while since I saw such a straight up basic Tsundere as Tohsaka Rin. Her character is so cliché, but I really cannot bash on it since she was “created” before it was such a norm. It still is rather annoying how she constantly act so mighty despite how obvious she is, she couldn’t fool a blind-deaf man even if she tried. She claims she will kill him if he ever comes back to her once again without acting like a master, but I’d be willing to bet the girl wouldn’t actually have the resolve to do something like that. She is just hiding the truth to herself.
We now have every Heroic Spirit revealed except for two, we still haven’t had any notice from Assassin or Rider, but everyone else has made some kind of appearance already. It seems Caster will be at the center of the attention next episode, we know it is a female, and from the look of her in the opening, she looks like quite the beauty and agile witch if you ask me. We know she is currently killing people to increase her own power, but other than that and her love gas, there is very limited information available just yet. Caster is probably my favorite class along with Berserker, so I am most excited to see just what kind of power the wizard has to offer.
From the look of things the next episode will most likely be much more action-packed. I didn’t mind the slower pacing of this episode, but I’d much rather have the story focus more about the Holy Grail and the people fighting in it than the friends and the people at school. Hopefully we don’t spend too much time talking about silly school stuff and more time on the actual battles.
