I don’t get it.
Not much in this episode made sense, to be honest, and I thought it disappointing more than anything else…
To begin with, I don’t know exactly why we saw so much of Integra’s father, but it seems to me like he’s just an idiot who can’t take care of himself. I don’t know if he’ll be useful later on, but this time he was just a really random character doing random shit and putting in some random humour that I really didn’t find funny at all. It made the episode seem like a filler more than anything else, considering about half of it consisted of this boring scene.
The next scene afterwards was much more interesting, however way too short for my taste. We finally got back on track and saw Walter fighting with the Werewolf, getting his ass kicked until Alucard showed up. I knew the coffin was there, but I was starting to wonder if anything was ever going to pop out of there, since Walter needs to have his traitorous conversation with the Major eventually anyways (and I’ll assume he’ll have it somewhere around that time). I’d also like to add just how much of a badass Walter is… But I repeat myself too much. He’s still awesome, though.
Just when I thoughts this episode could redeem itself from the really bad start we got, it seems like the third scene destroyed all my hopes and dreams for that to ever happen… I didn’t understand jack shit of the last 3 minutes of the episode. It seems like we had a new show altogether starting, with new characters, and the only thing that told me it was still part of the show was the distinguished art style of Hellsing. Apart from that, I dunno if that samurai man was someone we should know or not… He was pretty cool, but I was too confused to enjoy that part of the episode.
In the end, this episode felt more like a filler than anything else. It was filled with bad humour and useless scenes, and overall the actual good content of the episode consisted of less than a third of the episode. I was quite excited when I finally saw this special come out, but now that I’ve seen it I have to admit that it was just a huge disappointment altogether.
