Well, it seems it went completely over my head last week that two episodes aired back to back. Oops. Time to make right of my wrongs now!
Well, this is not just a hidden game anymore. Shinichi used to play in the shadow, now he is rejected by everyone around him for what he has become, but maybe it will become time for him to step into the light and let at least some people see the truth. With investigations going around, rumors of monsters like him that eats people, with some of his friends knowing his strength, with some girl knowing he is different, there are a lot of clues starting to gather. The last thing he wants when the truth gets out, is for people he trust and supports him to start doubting him. Sometimes, even if it feels it is about the worse time for people to learn the truth, it can happen to be the best time to actually confide to some people around you. Getting caught would mean immense trouble, but if you can have at least one person left, if when words gets out of the truth you can have one person to have your back, it can be all you need to keep fighting and get out of trouble.
Shinichi is currently losing everything by refusing to speak up. At this point in time, I would try to form a deal with someone from the investigation unit. I would try to get them what they want, try to obtain a live specimen for them to gather more information. If he works with them and contributes his knowledge and power to those who have the same objective than he does, he can get out of this mess. He can just go the super hero route, hide his face, hide who he is and help anonymously like a savior. This helps him retain his freedom and identity while also purging the world of those parasites.
Meanwhile, we know Yuuko Tachikawa as the little shy friend of Shinichi. The girl was always present in the story but never really in the forefront of anything. Now her role suddenly changes as she learns the truth about Shimada. The most important thing we learned about Yuuko this episode, it is how fucking stupid the girl is. I understand love, I’ve been in love before, I understand doubts, I had doubts before. I don’t understand risking your life facing a threat and making yourself a prime target to boot. Look, if you hold solid evidence about someone, the first thing you want to do is making yourself valuable alive. If you know too much and present yourself with no plan, you are essentially just asking to be killed. Make sure someone else know, make sure the information is on a countdown somewhere to be release, make sure you being alive is an asset the person you are going to confront can’t simply ignore. If Shinichi was not at school, the girl would have a 0% chance of survival here, if she survives (which she might) it will be because of luck. From a biological perspective, it would be a good riddance to get rid of such stupidity out of the gene pool.
