Mondaiji is finally over and now it is time to review this absolutely generic piece of crap.
Art and Animations
The show was beautiful I must give it that much, but at the same time it wasn’t anything beyond what we are used to see in a shounen. The characters and scenery were always beautiful and the action scenes where always animated for most of the time. Unfortunately, the action scenes where also riddles with big explosions and flash of light that made everything a little less easy to follow and the choreography for the battles where quite limited and kind of boring too.
I can’t give the show a bad rating for the animation because it wasn’t ugly, but it really wasn’t anything special either, therefore the show gets a 7 out of 10. It was better than the bare minimum, but nowhere near good enough to make it worth looking at just for the sheer beauty of the scenery.
The show had a great start by having a good amount of different characters that interacted well with each other, but they were never develop. The only character who got a chance to develop did so in the last 2 episodes and the development was so rushed that it was difficult to identify with the change. The show just had an overall feeling that it was rushed and it really showed when it came to the characters. Not enough time was allowed to explain anything in the show, the show was so obsessed with the action that our 3 main protagonist barely had more than one liners between each others and you never got to see them thinking until the very last episodes.
I don’t care if you are a supersayan, a beastcaller and Lelouch, if you can’t have your story explained and just do cool stuff without any real background, you are just as entertaining and deep as a caterpie in the pokemon anime. It is especially sad in the case of Mondaiji because the character looked like they were deeper than it appeared, but the show never took the time to give it any attention and therefore it ended up the way it is right now.
Because of all these reasons, Mondaijitachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo was an awful anime that butchered his characters in the sake of action. This is why it deserves a 5 on 10.
Soundtrack & Opening/Ending
The show soundtrack, opening and ending were all nothing special. There was this generic feel to them and it just felt like not much attention was given to that part of the show. The intro had barely any animation and the song was not that catchy. I barely remember it and it has only been a week since the last time I listened to it. The intro was also so basic in animation that it didn’t help to make the song memorable.
Meanwhile the ending wasn’t much better, while the animation was fun and enjoyable to watch, I can’t even remember what was the song that played while I watched the little chibi dance. Because of how forgettable the music was and because not much effort seemed to have been put into it, the show gets a 6 out of 10. Not bad, but not good either.
Here is where things start to get ugly-er. The show has a great universe, the characters design are original and really fantasist there is a lot of lore and depth in the story, but it all doesn’t matter because none of it is properly used in the show. The show spent so much time on the action and on the gift game themselves and so little time into immersing the viewer PROPERlY into the universe that everything that made Mondaijitachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo was lost because the viewer was never able to get a firm grasp of the world surrounding the story and furthermore the character were never develop enough to create an attachment to them. The show was more a succession of gift game than a real story, this made the show act more in term of arc than a real continuous story. I do realize that the story was actually continuous and that there was a constant progression and a goal, but the goal was never close to be achieved and it simply seemed like each little conquest didn’t help in the future games in any ways, there was never a building up of power or character development and therefore the story never seemed to evolve and go anywhere and therefore this show was absolutely boring.
I can’t even give the show a really negative mark because I believe it did try to do everything I listed as undone, it just seemed to have failed in every aspect and made it very difficult for anyone to create deep attachment to this show. This is why it gets a 6 out of 10.
Overall Entertainment Value
In the end, we are watching a shounen and we should try to expect shounen things out of a shounen, that means battle, action and explosion. There were a lot of battle and action in this show, so at first sight it seemed like they succeeded to do their job. While I agree that they did cover the bare minimum, I think that even for a shounen the content was sub par to most shows. The power of the characters were interesting, the set-up that led to battles were quite interesting too, where things start to fail is when we go to the battle themselves.
The fights were unoriginal, even with an army of different power and species there never seemed to be anything unique in the fighting style, nothing that could tell this show apart from another shounen at least. The fighting for Izayoi was mostly done with fist and he never really learned new techniques or revealed some kind of special new attack. All he did throughout the show was show us how strong he is, but his feats of strengths, while entertaining, were getting boring really quickly. Meanwhile the other two girls had abilities that promoted evolutions and secret power and while there was some of that, the two girls were so overshadowed by Izayoi that it never seemed to actually matter in the first place.
Because of this overall lack of flavor, this show only get an average 7 out of 10 for overall entertainment.
In conclusion, this show was a complete waste of time. It wasn’t bad enough to make it special and it wasn’t good enough to be enjoyable. It really just seems like someone took a good story with great elements and threw everything good out of the window to show us only the most dumb and boring parts. The universe is appealing enough that it could have been able to pull even a bad show through, but the universe was never really explored much nor was anything else in the show really.
Even if you like stupid shounen and all you want to see is fight, you’ll be left with a feeling of nothingness after watching this show, your lust for power and strength won’t be satisfied, if anything the short 10 episodes and the lame ending might frustrate you even more and make you curse who ever made you watch this show to begin with.
Mondaijitachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo gets a 6 out of 10. Meh.
Final Rating: 6/10
