As good as is Nanatsu no Taizai, as great is the direction, the art, the story, the universe. Everything in this show looks and feel really good and entertaining. but it is too PG and childish for me to really take it seriously. I actually am interesting in learning where the story will go, I am interested in learning who the 7 deadly sin are, see what the holy knights are on about and to understand everything…but not with a talking pig and a sword capable of destroying a mountain but unable to kill a man.
Despite how great you make out this show to be I cannot get in a story that has such a PG approach to its story telling, I think it is perfect for a family watch, but when I’m alone in my basement I don’t want to see a show where nobody dies even after being thrown off cliffs or being blasted off into the sky. I am not lying when I say this show looks incredible, but I still cannot bring myself to watch something like this. You cannot have a show that involves killing people and not feature any deaths, it is just against logic. It dilutes the potential of the story it is simply sad. I really, really want to follow the story here, I wish I could watch it, but I would only get frustrated by the decision of making this show kid friendly. I think it will be much less difficult for me to forget this wonderful story existed instead of trying to cope every week with the lack of blood and cruelty.
It is even worse to know that it seems acceptable in japan to have an ageless man grope a teenage princess than it is to have someone die off screen. I do recommend this show to anyone who loves adventure shows and want a disney adventure more than a gritty one. The Seven Deadly Sin seem to be a master piece and it will probably be a memorable experience. As for me, I will have to pass on it because of the reasons stated above, it is a shame but it cannot be helped, I wouldn’t be able to stomach it.
