When she was younger, Saori was a shy girl who had a really hard time talking to anyone. Dragged by her sister Kaori once to an otaku meeting, she makes her first friends, until Kaori leaves abroad to get married, which breaks the circle of friends Saori was a part of. Angry at her sister, she decides to make her own group of friends, which explains the reason why she created the online meeting in the first place.
I’m glad we finally got to see this episode 🙂
I always wondered why Saori transformed herself so much whenever she came out of the house. I still don’t really have a clue as to why she dresses like a completely different person (except for the glasses, that is), but at least we got to know more background about her, and she already seems like a much more lovely character than she was before. I never thought that the tall, imposing and guy-ish Saori-chan would have been such a shy girl when she was a kid. You can really see that the glasses transform her completely; it’s like she suddenly becomes a completely new person. In the end her goal was accomplished, and she made her own little circle where everyone who joined felt more at ease.
I’m not sure what to think about her sister though. Kaori is… Impulsive? Passionate? Whatever it is, she seems like the kind of person who’ll admit her feelings to anyone about anything except to her poor little sister to whom she’s the biggest tsundere ever. She was obviously jealous when she saw her sister getting too integrated into her own circle of friends, which is probably why she left in the first place. When she told off Saori after that was basically what made me decide that she pissed me off more than anything. I’m glad that in the end Saori stil moved forward though, and when Kaori came back for her sister’s birthday I almost forgave her blunder from a few years back. Almost.
Kaori’s circle of friends was pretty interesting, though. I particularly liked Kanata/Ganma/whatever other names she had, if only because she gave herself 8 different names. I also liked the way the friends got together and talked about anime; we all have our otaku friends with whom we fangirl about different shows, and it reminded me just how much it gives one a place to have fun and talk about something awesome. Otakus forever~
Apart from that, well, to be honest I don’t know what to say about this episode. It was good, but I guess there’s just not much more to say about it… Saori was awesome, Kaori was annoying, and I’m expecting to see her circle of friends show up a little more later on… That’s it, I guess. Look forward to next episode!
