This episode of Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin was rather emotional and was focused much more on the characters and their relation to one another than anything else. It was an interesting episode that helped us understand more about every character and their part in the story, but it also was an episode rather void of development in term of the actual story. As such, there was not many elements in this episode which I found myself compelled to talk about, I felt satisfied of getting so many answers, but I didn’t have many questions in return.
The few questions I have are about the motivation of Juugo in helping Nanana and why he claims that he doesn’t want to help anyone. It seems rather obvious that the prevalent conflict in the show is Juugo’s motivation in doing what he does, why he doesn’t want to follow in his father footsteps and why he rejected the people around him to start a new life. Why did the guy decide to help Nanana but refuse to admit that he wants to help others ? Juugo is constantly seen trying to save the people around him, no matter if they tried to wrong him or not, he seems constantly trying to do good while looking bad. If you asked me, he fits the perfect description of what his father wants him to be. The only hint I have so far for a reason is that he is confused about himself and simply tries to rebel against his father like every teenager would do. I feel like it might very well be a central theme of this show, having teenagers looking for adventure and to find themselves doing so, so it might very well be something has simple as that. Truth be told, I remain constantly skeptic of Juugo’s true intentions after the first few episodes where the show completely fooled me when it came to his intentions, so I still have doubts about Juugo’s ultimate goal despite how obvious it looks.
The other thing I want to talk about for Juugo is how he somehow seem to have forgotten the promise he made to Yukihime a long time ago. He claims to never forget a promise and yet he does so at the very moment he claims so. Did he forget? Did he simply hope that she did? What is the deal here? If he did not forget, is he somehow hiding his feelings for some reason? Or is he just dumb and dense like every other main character in the existence of anime? So many question, yet 4 more episode to go with the show. It goes by so quickly, with only 11 episode, Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin will be over in the blink of an eye and we still seem so far away from any definite ending. Makes me wonder if we will get an actual ending to the show or if things will show stop midway. Already makes me scared that the ending will be abrupt or butchered. I guess we will find out when the time comes.
