So this is the episode where everything comes together to give us a story of this very scattered story we had so far. This episode of Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin was really good, we got to finally make something out of the various fragment of information we gathered everywhere. It was a good episode to make sense of everything and finally understand what direction and objective the show had to begin with. There are just so many characters and so many plot points opened that it was very difficult to understand where the focus would be. Turns out that everything still split between the story of Nanana and the adventure club. We still have the question of saving Nanana and what she wants and obtaining the Collection in parallel as a simple part of the adventure.
The more the story goes on, the more it seems scattered, so many elements were explored but completely unnecessary, it turns out that in 11 episodes, only 4 of them will have mattered and created an actual arc. You could start watching this anime at episode 8 and you wouldn’t have missed that much important information.
Something that really pissed me off this episode was not how scattered and rushed the ending is, but rather how no one seems to ever die in the show. Nanana is still there as a ghost, everyone who tries the very dangerous puzzles all remain alive somehow. Even the one classmate that was sacrificed didn’t actually die and was simply handicapped from now on. What is the thrill and sacrifice for this collection if no life are at risk. People get seriously beat up and then only become comic relief that look like mummies. Considering the amount of drama and intensity in the show, I would expect them to integrate the concept of death at least a little bit. I mean, the center of the show is a dead girl, you can’t just ignore death from there !
Speaking of dead girl, it seems that Nanana really doesn’t wish to leave this world that much. It was rather obvious that Nanana wish was not really to find her killer and that she might in fact already know who it was. If anything, I wouldn’t be surprised if she wasn’t even dead in the first place and instead she was just subject to some object of her own collection. It wouldn’t be surprising either that the object which brought her to this state was the one inside the mall and that using it would actually solve her “situation”. At this point, all I know is that we are either getting a really rushed ending, or we just get the end of this arc and we will have to read the manga for the rest, because Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin has no interest in giving us more than an arc here.
