Sengoku Musou episode 1 [First Impression]: Decent One Episode Show

I’m taking my first look of Sengoku Musou without having seen the special episode which aired nearly a yer ago. This does made it a bit more difficult for me to really understand what was going on at first, but the story was straight forward enough  that it was easy to understand what was going on.

Sengoku Musou midget conquers japan

I found all of star wars storm troopers, they are all part of the Hojo’s firing squad army now. When a lone guy with a spear is in an open field and shot at by about 25 gunmen and not a single bullet hit…you know your army might need a retraining. I don’t care that this is feudal Japan and guns were not what they are now, through sheer luck and probability, I can’t see how the guy can avoid every single bullet without moving an inch.  I understand that a certain suspension of disbelief is needed in this kind of shounen, but you should still try to create some excuse and at least try a bit.

Sengoku Musou firing at him

Either way, I think Sengoku Musou was a great one episode anime. The guys fought, won the castle over with barely any casualties and then united Japan. What a great ending, I felt rather satisfied with this, I was not 100% into the story but I managed to understand what was going on just in time for it to be over. I mean, they united Japan right? The war is over, everyone will now go back to calm and normalcy. Time for everyone to go home, this show is over. I am obviously kidding since I’m aware there are still 11 more episodes somehow, but there was really no sign of what would be next for the show. Will the future of this anime just be passive interaction of after war? Will it be about the struggle of warriors going back to a life of peace? You give us some action and a war in this first episode, your first episode is supposed to be representative of what we should expect for the rest of the season and yet everything finishes with all conflict resolved. The hell are we supposed to hope for from here?

Sengoku Musou victory is achieved

I can’t say I was specially blown away by Sengoku Musou, the show was deceptively average despite its awesome soundtrack. If anything I felt it was a more tame version of Sengoku Basara, it just didn’t come off as something to stop for and watch. I don’t plan on covering it or watching it this season and to be honest considering the way this episode ended, I don’t really see why anyone would be curious to go along to try out episode 2. This is just a big meh anime.
