This episode was a huge nothing. I can’t even say the episode was bad, because there was a lot of character development going on, but there was no real discovery or twist. I mean this episode was needed for Eren to learn more about himself and how to take control of the situation, same goes for Armin and Mikasa, but in the end the episode was a big build up for something which won’t happen until the next episode. It just seems that every single time something grand is to happen we have to wait 2 or 3 episodes of cliffhanger before we are able to get it. The good news though is that it is certain that we will get a resolution to the defense of Trost arc next week as it is the last week before the recap. You can expect for Eren to either close down the hole in the wall or fail doing so next episode.
Very little thing of interest happened this episode, Armin finally made the connection between where Armin is situated inside the Titan’s body and the Titan’s weak spot and I’m certain that in the future of the show we will finally be able to learn more about the Titans and what that weak spot is all about. I wouldn’t be surprised if in one way or another Titans are but a creation of humanity or a new form of humanity itself. Pixis hinted earlier at how some people suggested that having a common enemy would rally humanity together to fight against the greater common foe, this could potentially be foreshadowing of what really happened.
In the universe of personal speculation, I would tend to say that Eren will succeed next week at blocking the hole in the wall. After all, the show IS named Attack on Titans, not Fail Defense against Titan. Of course this could also mean that the Attack on the Titans will only occur much later in the show, but I’m pretty sure we have finally reach the turning point of the show and that Eren will become the main weapon of combat for humanity to retake its land. From here things can only get more interesting and intense as Eren will become at the center of the action and surrounded by the most elite squads of them all. Even more interesting and epic, for me anyway, is to know that if Eren can gain some credibility as a secret weapon, he might be able to make it to his old house and old basement to unveil everything is father ever worked on before. There is two possibility here to what we will discover. Either we will learn everything there is to know about Titans and how Eren became to be this super weapon, or Eren will find the most extensive and complete collection of pornography any man could have ever wanted. Both seems equally likely, especially considering the mysterious nature of Eren’s father.
Like always, I’m more than excited for next week episode of Shingeki no Kyojin, after all we will reach the conclusion we awaited for so long. I hope that all this build up to next week will be worth the wait. Shingeki no Kyojin might be indisputably the best show of the season, but it better not fall in epicness if it wants to stay best show of the year.
