Shingeki no Kyojin episode 4: Graduation Party

Shingeki no Kyojin intro

Wow this episode was something. I expected for Eren and his gang to graduate and get some of the best grades and still go to the recon corp. I expected that some people would react badly to it, although I must admit I expected for more drama to occur after that decision, but I guess that after 2 years of training people kind of expected for Eren to go that route. Now what I certainly didn’t expect this episode was to see the face of a titan. What I expected even less was for that Titan to be coming to them, instead of having them go for the titan.

Shingeki no Kyojin staring contest

It was really nice to have the instructor describe the aptitude of the best students and to see what everyone’s skills were. It was also nice to get a feel of the atmosphere the student were immersed in constantly. I somehow wish that we could have had more time to learn and discover the many characters and co-student of Eren. After all they all seemed like quite awesome people and most of them at secondary character written all over their faces.  It is slightly unfortunate that most of them we might very well never see again because they went to the inner walls or the garrison.

Shingeki no Kyojin intense fighting

At least there is some good news concerning that. We won’t have to wait long before we can see the face of everyone who joined the garrison, because the next few episode will involve them a lot. The Titans have showed up again and this time they better hope to defend the invasion or they will lose half their territory once again. I’m pretty sure they are about reaching their limit to how many walls they can lose before their society can’t sustain itself anymore. They lost 1/5th of their population last time and now everyone is already starving, if more territory were to be lost chaos would definitively destroy the human faster than the Titan can.

Shingeki no Kyojin Eren

Speaking of Titan, I was definitively not expecting for the great Titan to show up already. It has been a couple years since his last apparition, but he timed himself perfectly to be able to meet Eren. Now I understand that this is an anime, the story must happen, having him show up there makes things even more awesome and epic, yet, I wish there was an explanation why the Titan would show up now and there. I have a feeling that maybe Eren’s father has something to do with this. After all his father injected him with something mysterious earlier in his childhood (or so I understood from the previous flashback) and Eren seems to be constantly present when the gigantic Titan attacks. Maybe I’m looking too deep into this, but I really wish there was an explanation, it would make everything much more realistic and awesome in my eyes.

Shingeki no Kyojin Mikasa

Next episode is sure to be absolutely epic, this episode was already something, but now the real fighting will begin and Eren is no where ready to fight something this big. It has already been said in the preview that Arlert will be in danger next episode, so we are sure to have the drama at the rendez-vous, even though we know Arlert won’t die just yet since he is in the front cover of the show.
