I’ve seen some people be more credible when they claim to be human. I mean it is one thing to feign ignorance to survive; it is another to defend yourself by becoming a huge monster and confirm that you can’t be trusted. I think that Eren really has no future as a lawyer.
This episode was definitively surprising and incredibly fun to watch. At the beginning we got to learn more about the Recon Corps; we now know their current purpose and how bad ass their captain is, and it was really fun to see a new group and see how different things were for the people who venture outside the walls. We could remember in the first few episodes how the Recon Corps were considered to be a suicide cult, and nowadays they are seen as heroes of mankind. Now that they actually have an objective and that their objectives is more about defense than offense, suddenly the people are all for the reclaiming of their lands. I’m just curious if in the future we’ll see the recon corp as allies of mankind or if they will be Eren’s next enemies to face; considering the current situation, the second option is much more likely.
The next and main reason this episode is awesome is clearly because we finally got to understand a lot more about what happened to Eren. So many questions were finally answered! We now know that it was indeed the injections that Eren got that allowed him to transform; we also learned when he got those injections and probably a bit why too. His father wasn’t the mad man he was thought to be in the beginning, and it is now clear that Eren got injected after they lost wall Maria. That means that Eren was reunited with his father; he simply forgot about it, we don’t know where his father is, or if he is even still alive, but we now know that every answer, or at least a lot more, are right under their old house, so now Eren has his quest and we know his destination.
There is no way humanity will accept Eren once again, at least not yet, but some pocket of people could easily join forces with him. Mikasa and Armin are definitively going to follow him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Recon Corps or old comrades of Eren were to join him too; I think he inspired them enough for at least one or two of them to come with him. I sure hope that not everyone will just go and try to kill him. Then again, I wouldn’t blame anyone. Eren clearly IS a monster; it would be no surprise that someone would like to avoid meeting with him or helping him to keep a more “normal” life.
From here the future of the show on the short term is very well explained, it is now very clear what the show is about. Eren and his friends will try to learn the truth about Eren and use that weapon to save humanity. Eren will have to fight both titans and humans at the same time and he will have to take control of his own power. At least until he gets to his house, the show’s direction is now pretty clear…and it is epic !
