We are still only at the 5th episode of 26 and we already have so much action it is unbelievable. I’m not even saying this to give a good impression of the show, on the contrary, we have way too much stuff going on this episode. Here is a small list of important things which happened:
1 – Blowdogs show up and blow up
2 – random ninja dies
3- Saki gets hurt and she has trouble walking
4- Saki and Satoru get caught by some wild Ratman
5- Saki and Satoru nearly have sex together to relieve stress
6- They escape the grasp of the wild Ratman to be picked up by a civil clan of rat man
7 – They saw a Queen and learn that the nest is under attack and about to be defeated
8 – during the night they are attacked and now they try to escape
9 – they are trapped and some strange monster stand above them
Those are only the major points here, but I think it could have been split into 2 or 3 episodes and it would have given the story a better pace. After all we are thrown so much new information this episode that it could be quite disorienting for the viewer. We were confirmed the presence of some mythical creature, we were also shown some that we never expected to see or hear off. This episodes raised more questions than it answered for me.
First of all, How come Satoru managed to kill a Ratman without being affected in any way by the death feedback? Even later on he killed so many of them by exploding the tunnels, yet he didn’t feel any death feedback on this occasion either. He was indeed affected by the urge to have intimate relationship when he was over stressed, so why does this mechanism worked and not the death feedback?
Secondly, what happened to the 3 others? yes we got to follow Saki and Satoru, but we have no idea what happened to the other three and nor Saki or Satoru seem to care much about what happened to those three. To be fair, it wouldn’t be the first time that their friends suddenly disappear never to be heard of again.
Those 5 got in trouble way over their head. Not only will they now be shun from their society for knowing too much, not only did they went way too far out, but now they are lost in a world they don’t understand without any power. I sure hope they find a way to get their power back soon, because otherwise they are as good as dead in such a vicious environment. At least Saki and Satoru seem inclined to have sex once before they both die a miserable and pointless death by the end of giant rats.
