Well at first I was going to have a big great talk about how the Commander had a really idea of a utopia and how he lacked a lot when it comes to leadership. I was going to say that he acted like he had no idea how human works and how to deal with their individual personalities. At first I thought the character was just completely stupid and managed to rank up in the military because of his prowess on the battlefield, not because he had any leadership capabilities. I believed he might have just been a little too unaware of how society work and how complex it is to maintain. Well turns out that all those speculations bout the Commander’s past were absolutely pointless since he wasn’t the one making the decisions from the very beginning.
Plot Twist ! Striker was never piloted by anyone, the Commander was dead before he even set foot on earth. Turns out that whole ghost city was controlled by an A.I all along and that it is why the utopia that the robot tried to obtain was so weird for any human being. You know what is even more funny? The A.I was able to control all those human for so long and if it were not for Ledo meddling in all this it would have succeeded in enslaving the earth…now that would have made a great ending. Instead we have a mecha with a headless commander inside and he is running rampant and trying to gain control over everything.
Now on to my rant because I find this show so fucking stupid. I understand that Ledo is a man of action and of the military. I understand that he has little to no social or political skill. But why on earth would anyone try to fight against their commander before trying to have any kind of argumentation with them first? Ledo didn’t try to argument and put its point forward with (what turned out to be striker), instead he first asked, got denied and he accepted the answer without saying anything in return. Then next day he shows up with machine guns in his mecha hands and challenge him to a duel. This is just pure stupidity, Ledo could have at least tried to assume himself and ask for a change, he is in a position with enough power to do so. Why must a complete all out war emerge instead when he could have done a peaceful debate and conversation instead? For a man who claims he wants to protect everyone and who likes his peace and accept that human shouldn’t be killed, he sure doesn’t follow his own teaching.
On to the next thing that pisses me off with this show, more specifically this episode. While I love to see that that the Utopia that this new fleet brings is nothing close to the Utopian land any human would like to live in, and while I love to see that Ledo recognize that and doesn’t act like a brainless pussy anymore, I really wish the other option wasn’t Gargantia. Shouldn’t there be an in-between somewhere between lazy, retarded and peace-loving hippies and productive, amoral, religious zealots? I feel like I absolutely hate both side, in the end both fleets could be completely annihilated and I would be much happier. I would rather side with Pirate, at least they have big breasts and they are not afraid to show it.
