I was scared during this episode that we wouldn’t get to see any more awesome space battle between plants and human, while those fears might be somewhat founded I was glad that at least we got to see Ledo’s mecha in action once again. It is just sad to see the difference in power between him and the aboriginal people of earth. He was able to destroy the entire pirate fleet by himself in less than a minute, killing every single pirate on the ship without harming any of the crew of the Gargantia fleet. I can only imagine what went through the head of the fleet members when they realized that this one little discovery they made would be able to completely annihilate their fleet in the time it takes to for one of them to scream for help. At least now they might consider the possibility that yes, the guy came from space and he is indeed fighting space monster.
I was also quite please that so many of my question that I had last episode were answered this episode. Now we know that the reason people left earth was because it entered a frozen era and therefore people were forced to leave. Some people stayed and because of the frozen age it can be easily understood why they were unable to properly develop their technology and how they were set back a lot by the condition they lived in. It must be quite difficult to develop space weapon when you have to find food to survive a period where nothing grows anywhere. It is already surprising that any human managed to survive such catastrophic event that must have lasted a long time, now the climate has changed once again and everyone is riding ships and survive by fishing.
I’m still kind of curious how the Human Galactic Alliance managed to lose track of their home planet, they were on this planet before, they did leave it when it entered a cataclysmic event, but that doesn’t explain why they lost track of it. Is it because back then the navigation instrument were so crude that they were unable to track the path they used to leave ? Or is it just that the information was lost over time? It is difficult to tell.
Another thing that is difficult to tell is how the earth managed to be entirely covered in water? Even if every single glacier on earth were to melt, the sea level of the earth would only increase of about 80 meters. Even with such a drastic increase every single continent on earth would still be present, you would need at least a 700 meter rise in sea level for most of the continent to be completely gone, but even then every mountain chain in the world would still create continent of their own and most of oriental asia would still be intact. I have no idea how the hell something like this could happen, did someone made some disastrous H2O factory on earth that kept running for ages or is this just some bad science fiction, it is difficult to tell.
Scientific fact aside, the show is amazing and I’m having a blast watching it.
