Recommendations: Gag Shows

“What should I watch now?” Thus is the question we, as anime fans, will ever wonder, for ever and ever. With an endless list of shows available for us to watch, it is sometimes complicated to filter out which ones are good and which ones would be better off disappearing into a deep abyss. This column serves exactly this purpose; in whichever category appears from one week to the next, the best shows will be picked out, leaving you with a good amount – enough to watch anime for entire days without pondering over the incessant question that attacks all anime fans.

This category somewhat makes me feel awkward… After all,  I am an avid fan of strong storyline and good character developments, so this category is kind of… Um… Outside those boundaries…

Not that it matters, really. Every single show on that list is something I have watched at least in part, and they all made me laugh more than enough that I just had to praise them. Sometimes, it just feels nice to have some cutesy and stupid show there to entertain us fully for a bit, without really having to think or try to find another specific meaning to things. Gag shows serve their purpose well in that sense. The only problem with them is their shaky humour… Gag shows tend to easily become the worst anime of the season if done badly. Therefore, here is a safe list for people looking for something interesting to watch in one evening or two. Enjoy!

This time around, we bring you to the world of time-wasting! For all of you people out there who believe they have much time to waste watching some darn good anime, this theme is for you. For rating purposes, I’ve decided to go with any anime more than 4 seasons long, implying anything that is 52 episodes or more, all seasons (but not OVAs) included. Before you start watching one of those, it is always better to at least know what kind of anime it is, why it should be good and if it actually worth wasting countless hours over it. I hope this post can help you out with it – and have fun watching!

Recommendations: Upcoming Summer Anime 2014

It is just about this time of the Season! All ongoing anime are about to end, and another season is about to start. Thus, I have compiled here a few anime which should prove to be interesting; whether they are bad or good, they definitely have the potential to become big, and a lot of people are looking forward to them. As a special edition of the Recommendations column, here are 5 Summer Anime to look forward to in 2014, and why they deserve the hype that they have at the moment.

P.S.: No second seasons were included. Since people usually know already if they liked the first season enough to watch the second one, there isn’t really any point in “recommending” any of them…

Recommendations: Otaku Culture

Yaaaaay Otakus! We love ’em, and most of the time relate to them immensely, unless you’re one of those who believe they know anime after watching Sword Art Online and Naruto, in which case I hate you and wish for us to never meet. As fellow anime watchers, it’s always nice to find shows in which we can somehow relate and feel a personal attachment to as no other commoner ever would. Shows featuring Otakus and their culture sometimes involve tough genres to handle for lovers of conventional, normal anime, but usually end up parodying what we love most in a way which makes us feel like part of a big inside joke which no one else will understand. It’s awesome. Please enjoy these shows, as they are precious to me and I secretly hope to spread the Otaku culture even more with these shows.
