Finally a show that looks fantastic that came out in 2014, Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta is the kind of show I was hoping to come out soon enough, a perfect romance story, for both boys and girls. The romantic love adventure of a two young life coming together and the romantic adventure of exploration and going where no one went before. This show is beautiful in term of its characters, its setting and its presentation, rarely have I seen a show that is able to incorporate so many soothingly marvelous element together to create such a romantic atmosphere. Please remember that when I use the word romantic, I don’t simply mean girl romance, but I also make reference to the romance of discovery and exploration. A group of explorer will live on a floating island to go meet the end of the sky and in the process they will grow and learn to love one another while riding the clouds. The only thing I disliked of the show was the opening because of its annoying song, but everything else of this first episode I absolutely loved. Of course there was this annoying incestuous undertone between sister and brother, but as long as it stays as an underlying theme I can forgive the show and enjoy it for its pure and honest content.
I previously said that I hate cheesy romance and always happy shows, but it is made quite evident from the opening sequence that the beautiful adventure those young men and women are embarking into won’t stay calm and happy for much longer. This is why I believe this show has huge potential to be something really excellent. If I’m able to suspend my disbelief that a flying zeppelin battleship can’t possibly fire such huge canons without losing altitude and trajectory from the recoil, I’m sure I can get into this fantasy world and see this story unfold in front of my eye.
I will be blogging this show and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great adventure / romantic story, I have a feeling this show will be great for boys male and female audience and therefore I’d recommend it to everyone I know. I have a gut feeling that Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta has the right mix of ideas and presentation to make a great incredible story and I want to see it through.
