Wow this show has just been awesome moment after awesome moment since a little while. I can’t believe it will end in just a few more episodes. I seriously hope there is a second season coming this way, because this show has great premise to have quite a few seasons. After all, those young men and women are going into an adventure to find the end of the sky, it would be a shame if their adventure stopped after just a few deaths.
What was truly amazing this episode wasn’t even the epic battle raging in the sky, nor the guys leaving the girls behind to go towards a certain death. No, what blew my mind and made me love the show even more was the big reveal on Ignacio’s story and on his personality. I can’t believe such an incredibly entertaining character was left in the dark for so long. He is Karl’s brother from a different mother, Ignacio might have been the son of a bitch, but he remains of royal blood. The guy has proven himself countless time already, he is by far better than any other student, he might be around the same age, but he has better skills than those of a regular full-fledged pilot.
Not only is he a great pilot, but he also brings such a great element to the show. Most romance have love triangles, but in the case of Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta, it is a hate triangle instead. You have Ignacio who hates Karl La Hire, Karl La Hire who hates Nina Viento and Nina Viento who hates herself while being protected by Ignacio. Alright, it might not be a perfect hate triangle, but it sure is close to being one. It brought so much joy to my heart to hear Ignacio’s reason for flying with Karl. When he said he wanted to fly with him mostly because he wants to be with Karl when he dies. It just fills my heart with joy to see such a negative and cold character that is yet so like-able. The guy acts like a badass, but contrary to Karl he actually is one.
In other news, there really are not many students left in that academy. Even if the teacher quit the military, they would have been out of job in just a few days anyway. I think there are only 2 males left in the entire school, all commoners. I doubt more than 20% of the original students are still alive and that number will probably drop even more in the next few episodes. In a sense, it is reasonable to have the first season of the show end soon, because they will have to refill their ranks with new character if they want to keep the school life aspect of the show going.
I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the 4 guys who left didn’t fulfill their promise of coming back. I find it highly unlikely that no one will lose their life in the next episode, I would actually be quite disappointed if it happened.
