Valvrave the Liberator episode 8: Bittersweet Contract

Valvrave the Liberator contract formation

This episode of Valvrave sure was action packed just like I love them. We finally had great progress in the relationship between L-elf and Haruto, I am seriously overjoyed with their new union. I never really liked sweetness, but bitterness sure is nice. This perfect yaoi couple is certain to make for absolute power, the heart and the brain can combine and create something greater than they could ever hope to accomplish alone. I believe that L-elf has nearly everything someone can need to become the greatest human imaginable. He is physically fit, he is cunning, he is really self-aware, he is able to understand other people, their feelings and their reaction. Really the only thing L-elf is missing to become the greatest human alive, is his humanity. It seems like L-elf was born a soldier and like he never got a chance to lead a normal life. The closest he got to emotions was when he met the princess and even then I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest to learn that the girl is now dead.

In life, the weak have a general tendency to die young, Haruto would have joined the crew of the dead if it were not for extreme luck on his part, the only reason he is still alive is because L-elf decided to make him into a champion of liberation, otherwise L-elf would have already found a way to have Haruto out of his way, might it be from self-destruction or he could have just sent him flying into space. Yet Haruto is alive and now he finally accepted L-elf plan, so I think there is hardly any chance he won’t be used to the maximum to make this world a better one…at least according to L-elf.

There are a lot of yaoi undertone in the show and I’m quite happy with it. I like L-elf much better than Saki or Shouko, the girl in Valvrave just seem so boring that I don’t mind if the whole show turns into a yaoi hentai, as long as L-elf stays involves. From now on I might casually refer to Haruto has “sweetness”, because I think the name evoke just how much of a wimp and boringly emotional character Haruto is. I guess normal people love themselves some humane character, but I’d have liked it much better if L-elf was the true main character in Valvrave, even though this would have turned the show into even more of a copy of Code Geass.

Back to the episode itself, it now seems that the order at the school will be restored and kept with L-elf’s presence and everyone’s safety will be assured by Haruto’s goodwill, yet I have a feeling that most people of the student council will have objection to having a spy run the operation of their little independent country. I guess they won’t have much choice though, having said that, it seems someone else is going to pilot a Valvrave next episode, I have no clue who though, I feel like there is 2 or 3 possible candidates, hopefully it won’t be someone who annoys the shit out of me and is absolutely useless on the battlefield. At the end of the show every single student of this school will either be useless or immortal. This will turn with a bunch of vampire student…Vampire Knight all over again, we’d learn that Haruto and Shouko are related at the beginning of next season.
