I’m still not sure if I like or dislike the show, but it is interesting enough to pull me in the story and I don’t plan to stop blogging it any time soon. The magical dolls and Cecil personality are rather annoying and too child-like for my liking, but this episode showed that this show might have a greater story of justice and conspiracy than we would of originally be lead to believe. It seems that despite the prejudices, despite the xenophobia for wizard, there is something even darker and more cunning at work here. It seems that some kind of organization is pulling to string to have people killed. What is the organization, what purpose it has and where are things going from here, I have no idea. What we do know is that some Grimoire 365 contains some kind of prophecy which somehow wants some people to die and Cecil will probably have some role to play in all this. We are just getting introduced to the whole story, so it is rather difficult to fully understand the magnitude of this new plot, but I have a feeling that it might span the whole season.
Something else that I found rather interesting this episode was that Cecil unlocked some new magical potential. We have had yet to be introduce to the world of magic in this show, so it is interesting to learn that people can develop magical power late in their life (as is the case for Hachiya) but some can also develop more than one magical power, as is the case for Cecil. Now is Cecil some kind of anomaly and the chosen one, or is this just normal for someone who uses magic constantly, I don’t know, but it seems from the reaction of others that while it is not something that occurs often, it doesn’t seem to be all that rare either. People reacted to it more like if someone told you she is colour-blind, than if someone showed you he had telekinetic powers. I actually love this turn of event because I found Cecil original power to be rather eccentric and uninteresting. I’d rather have mages fight with fireball and ice than huge mecha.
At the end of this episode I found myself really curious to learn more from the world of the Wizard Barristers, but I still hold doubt about the show somehow. I really fear which sudden turn it could take, everything could go very right or very wrong really quickly and I’ve had my hopes crushed so many times in the past that I don’t want to love an anime to much at an early stage. I’ll keep a close watch of this show in the future, definitively a good show of the season for now.
