This case was a bit awkward to watch, if only because Kamakiri is so ugly-looking and awkward in term of character design. I understand that “Kiri-jiichan” is supposed to be old and experienced and lazy, but his face just looks like a bulldog with some fungal disease in its face. The character himself is awesome, but visually speaking he seems really out of place to me. He is supposed to be over 80 years old, he still rocks long blond hair and he is able to dance around idols and eat hamburgers all day long. The guy complains about back pain and sleeps on the job, but then he dances while going out of the hospital I understand that most of it is just exaggeration to properly exaggerate his character, but I still find it really contrasting and odd how well his personality is defined and yet how his physical appearance doesn’t match it one bit.
Physical appearance aside, I was really amazed at how awesome Kamakiri was. I had already presumed that the guy was really skilled and good at his job if he was able to continue working at his age, but I never expected him to be this composed and effective at it. It was rather funny to see the young and energetic Cecil lose her mind around him and having Kamakiri not give a fuck and messing with her even more. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kamakiri was purposely trying to slow things down even more just to annoy Cecil and teach her a lesson or two. Cecil might be the center of this show and the reason for a future apocalypse, but she is rather young and completely naive. She is way too optimistic about some things and over energetic most of the time. I previously said in multiple occasion that I loved the show but hated Cecil, and this episode I was so happy to see her destroyed by experience and the slow process of doing a good job without excess. It is a good thing to be motivated in what you do, don’t get me wrong here, but it is also rather important to know how to use your energy properly and effectively and Cecil seems to have no knowledge of that what so ever.
Characters aside, there was not much story development this episode, if anything we saw a bit more into the ploy for Grimoire 365, but we really didn’t learn anything we didn’t knew already. This was a good character development episode, we could learn about one more of the employee and maybe Cecil learned a thing or two that might help her in the future to make better decision and solve her case in a more efficient fashion. This case was especially bloody considering it involved no magic what so ever, I was rather impressed to see so much blood in this murder, because it involved a crude weapon it was much bloodier than we are used to see in this show, it reminded me how much Wizard Barristers – Benmashi Cecil is actually a very serious show who just happen to have the most childish character ever.
